The NFL Scouting Combine is live from Indianapolis all week, and the NFL’s future stars will be on display. This year, there is a talented crop of running backs that will participate in the on-field workouts and drills.
Some of the biggest names include Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty, North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton and Iowa’s Kaleb Johnson. One other running back participating is Georgia’s Trevor Etienne, who is the younger brother of Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne.
One event that Etienne will run during the week is the 40-yard dash. Let’s take a look at how his time might compare to his older brother’s, as well as taking a look at the two brothers’ respective draft stocks.

Trevor vs. Travis 40-yard-dash times
Travis was a prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft, and as a result, his combine experience was a little different. In fact, that year, the combine was cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Most prospects that year were evaluated by their respective Pro Days, in a smaller setting.
During Etienne’s Pro Day, he ran a 4.45 40-yard dash, which was one of the faster 40 times. Here are some of the guys his time ranked behind, via Sports Reference’s compilation of the pro day results:
- Louisville RB Elijah Mitchell: 4.38
- Duke RB Deon Jackson: 4.41
- Memphis RB Kenneth Gainwell: 4.42
Travis is expected to run the 40-yard dash on Saturday afternoon with the rest of the running backs. He’s expected to run a fast time, but we’ll see if he can out-run his older brother. NFL Draft Buzz projects Etienne to run around a 4.48.
Trevor Etienne draft projection
Heading into the draft, NFL.com graded Etienne as a prospect as 6.15 with an outlook of “good backup with the potential to develop into a starter.” NFL Mock Draft Database has Etienne projected as a fifth-rounder before the combine. Bleacher Report’s NFL Draft big board ranks Etienne as the No. 131 overall prospect in this year’s draft.
Travis Etienne draft, NFL career
Travis was drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft, with the No. 25 overall pick in the first round. He’s spent four seasons in Jacksonville. During the preseason of his rookie season in 2021, Etienne suffered a season-ending foot injury that caused him to miss the season entirely.
From 2022-2024, he accounted for 2,691 yards with 18 touchdowns, adding another 132 catches for 1,046 yards and a touchdown over three seasons. He was hampered with injuries during the 2024-25 season, which limited him to just 558 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Jacksonville has only made the playoffs once with Etienne, in 2022. The Jags lost in the divisional round, 27-20, to the Kansas City Chiefs that year.
