Elliot, 22. said: “I don’t really want to be wasting years on my career because it’s a short career. You don’t know what’s going to happen.

“I need to reflect. I need to see if I’m content in doing what I’m doing and how can I improve as a player because that’s the most important thing.

“I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself. If that’s to go somewhere else, then it’s a decision that I’m going to have to make and I just need to see what happens.

“Nothing makes me want to leave. I love the club, I love the fans, the team. I support them as well. But most importantly, it’s just about what’s best for my career.”

Bolton sign Sam Dalby

Bolton Wanderers have signed forward Sam Dalby on a four-year contract following his departure from Wrexham.

The 25-year-old scored 15 goals on loan for Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership last season as the Tannadice club qualified for the European Conference League.

Dalby was offered a new contract by Wrexham in January but rejected the offer and became a free agent at the end of his loan north of the border.

Brighton made fresh Kostoulas bid

Brighton have made a fresh bid of £34m for Olympiacos’ 18-year-old striker Charalampos Kostoulas.

Brighton previously submitted an offer of around £30m plus Abdallah Sima for the 18-year-old.

Kostoulas helped Olympiacos to win the youth version of the Champions League in 2023-24 with five goals in eight appearances. 

Jobe doing Dortmund medical

Jobe Bellingham is undergoing a medical with Borussia Dortmund ahead of joining from Sunderland.

Sunderland have agreed an initial fee worth around £27.8m (€33m) with Dortmund for the 19-year-old’s sale.
