Cruiserweight Jake Paul will take a step up in competition tonight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in their 10-round main event on DAZN PPV at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. It’s a test to determine whether the popular YouTuber Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) is ready to begin fighting top-tier contenders.
Paul vs. Chavez Jr: PPV Details
Tonight’s event starts at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT on DAZN PPV. Ring walks are approximately 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT. The price of the event is $59.99.
Jake Paul, 28, has chosen the faded former WBC middleweight champion Chavez Jr. (54-6-1, 34 KOs) to show that he’s a legitimate fighter. However, he failed to realize how little interest fans have in Chavez Jr’s career.
Paul’s Past Foes: Old, Ex-MMA
The popularity he once had, 10 to 12 years ago, he has since lost due to his repeated failures. In hindsight, Jake couldn’t have chosen a worse opponent to sell a fight on pay-per-view if he tried. Paul’s choice of the 39-year-old Chavez Jr. as an opponent is in line with the type of fighters he’s been facing during his five-year pro career. He’s targeted older fighters and washed ex-MMA stars.
Chavez Jr. will receive a nice check for being Jake’s opponent on PPV, and will likely lose, as he has done many times over the last decade.

Ramirez, Farmer on Paul Card
WBC and WBO cruiserweight champion Gilberto Ramirez (47-1, 30 KOs) is on the undercard, defending against Yuniel Dorticos (27-2, 25 KOs). This fight has failed to attract interest from fans due to the 39-year-old Cuban Dorticos’ inactivity. In the last five years, he’s fought only four times, and one of those fights was a defeat.
The fight on tonight’s card that has generated some interest is Tevin Farmer vs. Floyd Schofield. Farmer (33-8-1, 8 KOs) is a well-known former super featherweight champion, who gave William Schofield and Raymond Muratalla a tough time in recent fights.
Tevin is going up against the unbeaten Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs), who has been maneuvered carefully by Golden Boy, steering him towards a world title fight without matching him against any world-class opposition. Tonight will be the first time that Schofield fights a contender.
