After complaining about his role with the Tennessee Titans, veteran safety Jamal Adams is getting what we wants.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Adams has requested his release from the team, and the Titans are giving it to him. A recent report revealed Adams was unhappy with his role, which is what led to this.

When the Titans acquired Adams during the offseason, it looked like he’d have some semblance of a role. However, the addition of Quandre Diggs knocked him down the depth chart and he’s been seeing very limited work when he’s actually been healthy.

But it’s unlikely that the addition of Diggs is all that hurt Adams’ playing time. After all, if he was truly an asset to Dennard Wilson’s defense, the Titans would find a way to get him on the field.

Clearly, Tennessee doesn’t feel like it’s missing anything with Adams, who has been on the decline for years now. What really stinks about all this is that the addition of Adams led to the team parting ways with Elijah Molden, who has proven to be an asset for the Los Angeles Chargers this year.

Most importantly, the Titans unload a potential distraction. The last thing a 1-4 Titans team needed was more controversy. It goes without saying Adams wasn’t worth going through that.
