Timeline revealed for Aaron Rodgers free agency decision amid Steelers saga

The Pittsburgh Steelers welcomed Aaron Rodgers to Pittsburgh last Friday, hoping to get the veteran quarterback on the same page. There seems to be mutual interest between the two sides, and Rodgers could be exactly who the Steelers need.

While he isn’t what he once was, Pittsburgh always runs a great system under Mike Tomlin and could be a quarterback away from winning the Super Bowl.

However, the Steelers could also be putting themselves in a bad position by not having a quarterback on the roster heading into the draft.

If the Steelers believe Rodgers is the guy, he needs to make his decision, and they need to know soon. He’d impact what they do in the draft and the remainder of free agency, making his timeline important.

However, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, it remains unlikely that Rodgers will make an announcement soon.

“An expectation emerged that he was ready to go. The Steelers made their offer. And then it all fizzled out.

“So the wait continues. Through it all, it’s unlikely there will be any announcements. Just developments. A visit here. A visit there,” Florio wrote.

For Pittsburgh, finding out that Rodgers hasn’t made a decision already is one of the worst scenarios.

The Steelers are still in a decent position if they get a deal done with the 41-year-old in the next month, but anything after that could be a stretch.

For Rodgers, he doesn’t have much reason to speed up his decision.

Multiple teams are looking for a veteran quarterback, and he knows he’s the best one available on the market.
