Ticket Sales Lag for Berlanga-Sheeraz July 12th Event in Queens: A Looming Disaster?

Ticket Sales Lag for Berlanga-Sheeraz July 12th Event in Queens: A Looming Disaster?

Edgar Berlanga and Hamzah Sheeraz will need to start making some effort to promote their event on July 12th soon, because Ticketmaster shows many unsold seats for the 14,053-seat Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York. Things are starting to look desperate, almost all unsold seats with 33 days to go before July 12th.

Berlanga-Sheeraz: Tickets Unsold

Berlanga-Sheeraz may not feel like it’s their responsibility to drum up interest for their event, but they need to. They’re the headliner, and it reflects on them if the venue is near empty next month on July 12th. The two will need to put some effort into selling the tickets because they are, in essence, the whole show in terms of charisma and fan interest.

The theatrical Berlanga (23-1, 18 KOs) did an outstanding job of creating interest in the event last month at the kickoff press conference on May 15th at the Palladium Times Square in New York City. Berlanga is a born actor made for the limelight. The emotionless Sheeraz (21-0, 17 KOs) was perfect reacting to Berlanga’s over-the-top behavior. However, since the press conference, the two have been missing in action, and that’s resulted in fans forgetting about the event.

Berlanga’s Promotion Critical

It’s really up to Berlanga and Sheeraz to sell the tickets. The co-feature fight between Shakur Stevenson and William Zepeda features two fighters who aren’t particularly adept at generating excitement for events.

Shakur Stevenson: Useless Promoter

Stevenson is a broken record, bragging about himself in his interviews, repeating the same thing without generating new thoughts. He’s utterly useless for promoting. Zepeda can’t speak English and requires an interpreter. Both of these fighters should plan before their media events, coming up with new material, and treating them like a theatrical production. They can’t just wing it.

It’s wise that Turki Alalshikh placed Stevenson-Zepeda on the undercard because they would be dead weight in the headliner, both incapable of getting fans excited about purchasing the event on DAZN PPV or buying tickets.

If I were Turki, I’d have stowed Shakur vs. Zepeda lower on the event or found someone who could speak on their behalf. They need a hype man who can yap nonstop about how great they are to get fans interested.
