Shakur Stevenson took to X last night to say he wants Gervonta Davis next if he doesn’t rematch Lamont Roach after their fiasco at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The fight was surprisingly scored as a 12-round majority draw by the judging crew on site last night, but fans saw it as victory for Roach.

I watched the fight and had Lamont winning 117-111, ignoring the referee’s blown knockdown call in the ninth. Roach schooled Davis the entire second half of the battle, making him look confused and helpless.

Vulnerability Seen

Stevenson’s timing to continue his campaign to land the Davis unification fight couldn’t be worse, but it shows the level of desperation the Newark, New Jersey native has. He wants [needs] that giant payday. Let’s make this clear: Tank is NOT going to fight Shakur next. So, he needs to stop hounding him and focus on his WBC mandatory, Andy Cruz, or fight his ‘brother,’ Keyshawn Davis.

The WBC lightweight champion Shakur is just one of the wolves circling Tank (30-0-1, 28 KOs) after his abysmal showing against Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs). All the top lightweights were calling out Tank after his performance last night. They see vulnerability and they’re ready to swoop down and finish him.

Stevenson needs to put a sock in it because Davis said the guy he wanted to fight next [Jake Paul] visited his locker room before the fight. When asked if it was Shakur, Gervonta said it wasn’t him.

“I didn’t get a win that I want, but I didn’t get a loss either. I feel like I won that in the last couple of rounds,” said Tank Davis after the fight. “It’s cool. Lamont is a great fighter. Hopefully, I can get that rematch because I know what I can do.”
