In 2021, lightweight Gervonta Davis, Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney, and Ryan Garcia adopted the moniker “The New Four Kings.” One weight class below at super-featherweight, Shakur Stevenson was a star on the rise.

As Stevenson continued to shine, his name became a part of the group. At that point, the boxing community had five talented boxers whom they wanted to see compete against one another.

On the night of April 22, 2023, Gervonta Davis stepped inside the ring to face Ryan “KingRy” Garcia. Davis looked very impressive as he stopped Garcia in the seventh round.

Once Davis defeated Garcia, fight fans were anxious about Davis fighting another member of the elite. Initially, they wanted Davis to fight Devin Haney, but suddenly, the name of the fifth member of the group started to resonate.

After winning world titles in multiple weight classes, Shakur Stevenson stepped up to lightweight, defeated Edwin De Los Santos via unanimous decision, and won the vacant WBC world title. It was a subpar performance, but Stevenson got the job done.

Two years later, Stevenson faced the high volume puncher William Zepeda. Shakur had a very entertaining performance due to the fact that he was able to stand inside the pocket and consistently land sharp combinations.

Stevenson went on to win by way of unanimous decision. This past weekend, Shakur went up to 140, schooled Teofimo Lopez, and won The Ring and WBO world titles.

After witnessing what we saw on January 31st, it’s safe to say we have officially entered the Shakur Stevenson era. Shakur is ready and willing to fight any boxer who is recognized as being elite.

Fight fans have been wanting to see a particular marquee matchup, and 2026 is the perfect time for this event. A bout between Shakur Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs) and Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) is the biggest fight in boxing.

Back in July 2025, Shakur Stevenson was a guest on the ‘Way Up With Angela Yee’ podcast. When asked about fighting Gervonta Davis, Shakur gave a direct response.

“Honestly, I been calling for the fight for what like two or three years now, so I’m ready for the fight. It’s all on Tank. Tank gotta say he’s ready.”

In past interviews, Tank Davis consistently displayed a lack of interest in the Shakur bout. During a press conference for his fight against Lamont Roach, a media member asked multiple questions about Shakur, and Tank responded.

“What are you, a Shakur fan or something ?Why you keep bringing up Shakur? There’s mad fighters out here. I’m fighting Lamont. You keep bringing up Shakur.” Davis went on to say, “I will f#ck Shakur up.”

Gervonta Davis is an efficient counter puncher who is accurate, explosive, and possesses incredible knockout power. Shakur Stevenson is an elite ring technician who’s also known for being a defensive specialist.

Currently, Gervonta “Tank” Davis has a personal affair he needs to attend to. Once he gets his affairs in order, hopefully, fight fans will be able to witness the blockbuster Shakur vs Tank clash sometime in mid to late 2026.

With that being said, if the stars align properly and this mega fight is made, who wins this matchup, Shakur Stevenson or Gervonta “Tank” Davis?
