The New York installment of The Ring’s Fatal Fury features a star-studded triple header that has a very interesting headliner as Ryan “King Ry” Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) will face Rolando “Rolly” Romero (16-2, 13 KOs).

This welterweight contest pairs up two of the most polarizing figures in the sport of boxing. The Fatal Fury: City of Wolves event is set to take place in the historic Midtown, Manhattan Times Square intersection and it will air live globally on DAZN PPV.

Ryan Garcia initially entered the fight game linked to an elite group of boxers. Garcia, along with Gervonta “Tank” Davis, Teofimo “The Takeover” Lopez, and Devin “The Dream” Haney, adopted the moniker ‘The New Four Kings.’

While his peers have went on to have success in multiple divisions, Ryan Garcia is the only one of the group who hasn’t won a world title. Garcia’s fanbase was built on his social media popularity, and for a while some looked at Garcia as being more of an influencer as opposed to a title contender.

Garcia attempted to change that narrative back in April 2023 when he stepped inside the squared circle to face Gervonta “Tank” Davis. Garcia put up a good fight, but unfortunately, he got stopped in the seventh round when Tank Davis landed a sharp body shot.

A year later, Ryan Garcia made another attempt at obtaining a signature win when he fought Devin Haney. Garcia had the night of his life as he scored three knockdowns and won the bout via majority decision.

Unfortunately for Garcia his triumph was erased from the record books because he tested positive for the banned substance ostarine. After serving a one-year suspension, Ryan Garcia is back, and he plans on making a statement against a hard hitting opponent.

The charismatic Rolando “Rolly” Romero was formally introduced to the boxing public back in May 2022 when he faced Gervonta Davis. During the course of the bout, Romero had his moments, but he was stopped in the 6th round.

Romero would bounce back by winning a world title in controversial fashion when he defeated Ismael Barroso and won the vacant WBA super-lightweight strap. Romero would go on to lose his title a year later when Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz stopped him in the eighth round.

Now Rolly Romero finds himself facing a longtime rival in the Fatal Fury main event. Romero’s opponent, Ryan Garcia, is a boxer who likes to utilize an upright stance. Garcia has good hand speed, a solid jab, a good right hand, and a lethal left hook.

Rolly Romero is a pressure fighter who consistently throws every punch with bad intentions. Romero’s overall skill set is a little shaky, but Romero is a dangerous opponent due to his exceptional punching power.

If there was a such thing as kryptonite, for Rolly Romero it would have to be his opponent’s left hand. Romero was knocked down in a sparring session when he got hit by a left hand, and Pitbull Cruz hurt Romero in the first round with a counter left hand shot.

Ismael Barroso scored a 3rd round knockdown courtesy of the left hand, and Gervonta Davis stopped Rolando Romero in the 6th round of their fight when he landed a vicious counter left-hand shot.

Romero has a tall task ahead of him tonight as he must find a way to avoid the most dangerous left hand in the sport of boxing. Romero is the underdog, but he’s entering tonight’s contest as a confident fighter.

“I’m envisioning a vicious knockout. It’s long overdue… I’ve been professional so far, but it’s gonna be a knockout,” Romero stated.

For Ryan Garcia, a victory tonight is expected. The goal for Garcia is to look impressive and then move on to the more alluring options. If he wins tonight, Garcia could go on and pursue a very intriguing fight against Conor Benn, or a unified world title bout against Jaron “Boots” Ennis.
