It should come as no surprise that so many former RAFA Racing Club Porsche Carrera Cup GB Juniors are enjoying successful 2025 seasons. Charlie Eastwood has achieved a third Le Mans 24 Hours class podium after a charging display during the night, Dan Harper has been a race winner in the GTD Pro division of the highly competitive IMSA SportsCar Championship, and Harry King recently topped the Gold Cup category of the Spa 24 Hours driving for Max Verstappen’s squad, for example.
Harper and Adam Smalley (the Gold class runner-up) also featured on that Spa grid as the Junior scheme alumni all find themselves progressing towards the pinnacle of sportscar racing. Those impressive performances should perhaps be expected given the meticulous process Porsche undertakes when selecting its next star of the future. And it is a process that is under way again.
Applications have opened for drivers with ambitions of becoming the 2026-27 RAFA Racing Club Porsche Carrera Cup GB Junior. Not only is it a prestigious prize to win, but a lucrative one too with £85,000 being provided towards the chosen one’s budget for each of the next two seasons. That’s not all – the new Junior will also benefit from a wealth of on- and off-track support as well as the chance to represent the manufacturer at high-profile events, like the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Current RAFA Racing Club Junior James Wallis is seeking to become the sixth consecutive driver to claim the Carrera Cup crown as part of the initiative and scored his maiden victory earlier this year in the category’s landmark 400th race. He is full of praise for the programme and the opportunities it gives to young drivers just starting out in their careers. “It’s a special prize to win, it’s quite an accolade knowing you’ve been chosen from a lot of entrants,” says Wallis, who urges drivers born between 30 November 2003 and 4 November 2009 to enter. “I think Porsche provide an amazing foundation for a racing driver.
“Although people only see the driving, even in the media side, the fitness, the psychological support, and the access you get, there’s a lot of support in every aspect. With the support, they’re so open and I can call any of the Porsche team. It’s important not to just zoom in on the driving side, you have to look at the whole picture of the programme and maximise it. I’ve loved every minute and I’ve learned a lot.”
Wallis was selected after an intense shootout at Silverstone and says even reaching the final is beneficial for young drivers. “Obviously, everyone wants to win but you learn a lot if you make it to the final,” he adds. “Even the interview stage is very good and is an important skill to learn.”
