KATE ABDO is going up against US TV royalty after being nominated for a Sports Emmy award.
The 43-year-old from Manchester has fronted CBS Sports’ coverage of the Champions League since 2020.
Abdo joined colleagues Jamie Carragher, Thierry Henry and Micah Richards for a bumper night of action as Arsenal took on Real Madrid on Tuesday.
But before the huge game at the Emirates, Richards had discovered the newly married sports presenter’s nomination.
The ex-Man City star told the panel: “We have a nominee for an Emmy! Take it away, Kate.”
A blushing Abdo was applauded by Henry from pitchside in North London, while Carragher followed suit in the studio.
She gushed in response: “Thank you everyone!”
Abdo has been nominated for Outstanding Personality/Studio Host at this year’s Sports Emmys.
She goes up against Scott Hanson of the NFL Network, TNT’s Ernie Johnson, NBC’s Mike Tirico and ESPN’s Scott van Pelt.
The winner will be revealed at a ceremony in Manhattan, New York, on May 20.
Spotting the category, Richards roared: “Outstanding studio host?!
“I don’t know what it says personality in there. That should have been me!”
One fan wrote in response: “Huge congrats to Kate!”
Another said: “Kate and Kelly Cates are right now are at the top of their profession and very good.”
While a third added: “Kate wins it. Easy peasy.”
Abdo now goes by Kate Scott after her marriage to former boxer Malik Scott last summer.
The pair got hitched in an intimate ceremony in Malibu, California.
They were joined by a small group of family and friends, with Henry, Carragher, or Richards not in attendance.
Kate said: “Our wedding was intimate – just the two of us, really.
“We focused on each other and the commitment we were making.
“It was a godly ceremony on the Malibu hills, just how we wanted it.”
