FORMER Manchester City star Martin Demichelis has narrowly avoided a grisly fate… after a BEAR went on the rampage in his garden.
The Argentine defender won a Premier League title and two League Cups before ending his three-year Etihad stay in 2016.
Demichelis, 44, has been manager of Mexican top-flight club Monterrey since last August.
But the 51-cap international and his family were left terrified as a huge black bear invaded their property earlier this week.
Demichelis’ wife Evangelia Anderson posted a clip on social media of the powerful beast cavorting in their garden.
The family emerged to confront the creature, and one of the couple’s daughters is heard screaming as the bear runs back and forth.
Evangelia tells the girl: “Don’t get too close to it, because there is no light.
“Come over here if he comes running. It scares me.”
The bear disappears behind a hedge before re-emerging on a nearby access road.
A frightened Evangelia exclaims: “It’s enormous, isn’t it!”
Luckily a security staff member on the upmarket estate where the family live then pulls up in a golf buggy to chase the animal away.
Wild bears are often spotted in towns in the Monterrey area, near the US border with Texas.
They are known to come down from nearby mountains in search of food.
It is not the first time Demichelis has had a visit from them since his arrival in north-eastern Mexico, with Evangelia reporting an invasion last November.
Demichelis played 106 times for Manchester City, scoring four goals.
His other clubs include Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Malaga and home-country side River Plate.
He began his coaching career with Bayern’s youth side, then had two years in charge of old club River.
The Buenos Aires outfit sacked him last July, only for Liga MX side Monterrey to hire him two weeks later.
