Teremoana and Moses Itauma on a Collision Course, Promoter Eddie Hearn Targets an Epic 18-Month Battle

Promoter Eddie Hearn says he thinks a fight between his fighter, heavyweight Teremoana, and Moses Itauma is possible in the next 18 months. He says that by then, one of them will be holding a world title. It’ll be a bigger fight.

The 2024 Olympian Teremoana (8-0, 8 KOs) has knocked out his first eight opponents, but he’s not received the same hype that Itauma has.

“I think the chances of it happening are most definite. I think it’s just given time,” said Teremoana to Australian Boxing Central when asked when a fight between him and Moses Itauma will happen. “I reckon in the next two or three years, I might be getting that fight. That’s just coming from me, obviously.”

If Teremoana waits three more years before fighting Itauma, he’ll be 30 years old, and possibly not as sharp as he is today at 27. It would be better for  Teremonana to get a shot at Itauma in 18 months.

“What exciting times coming for Moses. We’ve got this talent coming into the heavyweight division at this time. I feel like the older generation is fading away, and the new generation is coming up. We’re coming into this time, and they’re going to prove who is the best,” said Teremoana.

Matchroom chairman promoter Eddie Hearn must maneuver Teremoana into a world title fight, as he won’t be able to attract fighters like Moses Itauma without a world title belt. He needs a title to make himself worthy of Itauma taking the risk of fighting him, because he’s not going just to cover up like the battle-worn Dillian Whyte did in his first-round knockout loss to Moses on August 16, 2025.

“I was impressed. He’s got the goods. He’s fast, explosive, and powerful. Let’s see if he does a couple of rounds. The same with me. Once I do a couple of rounds, we’ll learn more of the picture, and we’ll go from there,” said Teremoana.

The opposition that Itauma has fought have routinely fought with their backs against the ropes. It’s been easy for him to tee off on his opponents with them trapped with no room to move around the ring.

“He believes he’ll beat Mosta Itauma, and he’s our guy,” said Eddie Hearn about Teremoana. “It’s not that we’re targeting Moses Itauma. We’re targeting a world heavyweight championship. Teremoana is going to fight him, and that’s going to be a tremendous fight. We’re talking 18 months, and that can be one of the great fights in the heavyweight division.”

Queensberry Promotions will have to sign off on the idea of their fighter, Itauma, fighting Teremoana. It doesn’t matter if it’s 18 months or three years from now. It’ll have to be a fight that Queensberry agrees to because they’re the ones that select the opponents for Itauma. We’ve seen Moses fighting exclusively older fighters, whom he’s knocked out within two rounds.
