Teofimo Lopez warned Shakur Stevenson today on X that he’d better have a “trust fund set up” because he’s sending his career down the drain when they fight in 2026.

Stevenson’s Psychological Warfare

For Teofimo (22-1, 13 KOs), he seems fed up with Shakur (24-0, 11 KOs) mouthing off something fierce lately, talking about how he’s going to beat, and hounding him for a fight. You can tell that Stevenson has gotten on his nerves with his psychological warfare, saying these things:

  • “Shut yo p***y ass up & make it happen”
  • “Stop acting like you’re from New York”
  • “If I smack u at the press conference, I’m wrong.”
  • Teo’s my son.”

The Newark, New Jersey, native has been telling the media how he plans to go up to 140, take Teofimo’s WBO strap, and give it to his friend Keyshawn Davis to become the new champion.

Lopez’s “Trust Fund” Warning

“Shakur Stevenson, I hope you have a Trust set up, because I’m going to take your career down once we’re in the Boxing Ring. #TKEOVRSEASON,” said Teofimo Lopez on X, sending a warning to Shakur Stevenson about what’s in store for him when they battle in 2026.

To hear him talk, he makes it sound like it’s a forgone conclusion that he’s going to beat Teofimo. He doesn’t appear to be faking. Sevenson appears convinced in his mind that he’s going to whip Teofimo, and there’s nothing he can do about it.

There’s nothing wrong with Shakur being self-confident. The problem is that it may be his downfall when he gets in the ring with Lopez. He’s too confident.

All those wins Shakur has accumulated lately against the likes of Josh Padley, Artem Harutyunyan, and William Zepeda seem to have gone to his head, making him sound like he thinks he’s omnipotent. That’s the problem with fighters. When they’ve been matched against one too many cupcakes, they begin to believe they can walk on water.

A Resume Filled with Faded Names

Stevenson’s resume is filled with wins over faded fighters, with victories over Shuichiro Yoshino, Robson Conceição, Jeremia Nakathila, and Oscar Valdez. This is what led Shakur to believe he was “the best fighter” on the face of this earth.
