Tennis star banned for THREE MONTHS for having one training session with disgraced coach

A TENNIS star has been banned for three months after taking part in a training session with a disgraced coach.

The decision means Mina Hodzic is prohibited from taking part in any form of tennis, playing or coaching, until June 6.

The International Tennis Integrity Agency [ITIA] imposed the sanction after Hodzic trained with Jordi Marse-Vidri.

Marse-Vidri, from Spain, is currently serving a 15-year ban over his role in a match fixing scandal.

The International Tennis Integrity Agency had warned Hodzic she would be banned if she trained with Marse-Vidri.

But the German, 22, took part in a session in October 2024.

In response she was banned from March 6 until June 6 and fined £775 ($1000).

Hodzic is now unable to compete or attend any tennis event sanctioned or sanctioned by ITIA members, including the ATP, ITF, WTA, Tennis Australia, the French Tennis Federation, Wimbledon, and the USTA, as well as any national associations.

Marse-Vidri was one of six tennis players who received a ban in 2022 following criminal convictions for match fixing in the Spanish courts. His 15-year suspension is due to end in 2035.

He was fined £12k ($15), £3.9k ($5k) of which was suspended. Marc Fornell Mestres, Carlos Ortega, Jaime Ortega, Marcos Tarralbo and Pedro Bernabe Franco also received bans ranging from seven years to 22 years.

The six players all pleaded guilty to corruption charges in Spain, resulting in criminal convictions. They were all given two-year suspended prison sentences and a fine.

Once the criminal cases were completed, the ITIA sanctioned the players.
