At 15, Taniyah Price wanted to box at a local gym, but her mom wouldn’t let her. Years later, Price wanted to box, but she couldn’t because she weighed over 400 pounds.

The extra weight came with multiple challenges. When she sat still, her heart rate matched that of someone running sprints. Just walking from the bedroom to the bathroom, she felt like she was going to have a heart attack.

As a guest on the BoxStock Media Podcast, Taniyah Price went in depth about the intense personal challenges she faced.

“The hardest battle was staying alive, finding a reason to live, finding value in myself,” Price said. “I’m watching myself deteriorate every day, wanting things I couldn’t have. I couldn’t even walk in the grocery store. I had to use a cart.”

Price went on to say, “I was 409 pounds. My mind was saying we want to do certain things, but the body was falling apart. I felt worthless, useless, you know like that was the hardest part, is finding a reason to keep breathing.”

Things went from bad to worse as Price was dealing with mental health issues, and she tried to take her own life. One day, promotions for the Gervonta “Tank” Davis vs. Ryan Garcia fight kept appearing on her TikTok timeline.

Watching the Davis vs. Garcia fight ignited a fire that motivated her to start training. Initially, the boxing training was for the sole purpose of losing weight and getting healthy.

Now the 31-year-old Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native Taniyah Price has lost over 130 pounds, and she is preparing for her first pro bout. In her workout videos, you can see Price is sharp, and she has exceptional hand speed.

On September 19th, Skyy Myles Promotions presents the event titled ‘The Supper.’ For this particular boxing card, Chrisean Rock is the main event, but Taniyah Price is the main attraction.
