SWEDEN 2 ENGLAND 2 (PEN 2-3) LIVE RESULT: Lionesses THROUGH to Euros semis after dramatic shootout and heroic fightback

Pubgoers struggle with drama

As the penalty shootout unfolded, it was a case of nervousness, fear and excitement.

You could not take your eyes off it, one moment England were heading out, then it all changed.

Not many fans will have any fingernails left after that one, but the partying will go on long into the night.

From zero to hero for keeper

After her match-winning display, England’s keeper spoke with BBC Sport:

Right now, I don’t know. It has all gone so quick. No, we are very happy obviously. Our fans stayed behind us and we showed you can never write us off. It was stressful, watching them and even saving them. Just happy and relieved now. They were definitely behind me [the fans] and I appreciate all their support.

Swede dreams are not made of this

Sweden must have thought they had one foot in the semi-finals when they led 2-0 deep into the second-half.

After conceding two quickfire goals, they picked themselves up and tried to grab a winning goal.

However, penalties cost them dear and see them heading back home after defeat in Zurich.

Passion carries England to victory

Fans have always loved someone representing their country who really wears their heart on their sleeve.

Luzy Bronze is the Lioness version of Stuart Pearce.

She has dragged her side from the jaws of defeat to book their place in the Euro 2025 semi-finals, where they will play Italy.

ENGLAND BEAT SWEDEN 3-2 ON PENS

Lionesses show their roar

Most people would have turned down the offer of betting on an England win in the second-half when two-nil down.

In the space of two minutes, substitutions changed the game.

When it went to penalties, Sweden had the chance to win it with the last kick but their keeper sent her effort sailing over the bar.
