O’Shaquie Foster vs. Stephen Fulton is being discussed for the Undercard of the Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach 2 Rematch. Fulton (23-1, 8 KOs) would be moving up to challenge Foster (23-3, 12 KOs) for his WBC super featherweight title in an attempt to become a three-division world champion.

Fulton, 30, recently dethroned WBC featherweight champion Brandon Figueroa in their rematch to become a two-division world champion on February 1st.

Davis Undercard

Brunch Boxing is reporting that Fulton vs. Foster is in talks for the Tank Davis vs. Lamont Roach 2 card. If it happens, that would be an excellent addition to that card. For fans that enjoy watching defensive fighters, they’ll be pleased to see Fulton and Foster mix it up.

O’Shaquie Foster, 31, recently recaptured his WBC super featherweight title in his rematch against Robson Conceicao, winning a 12-round split decision on December 2nd in Verona, New York. It was a highly questionable victory for O’Shaquie because Conceicao outworked him and landed the better shots.

Foster had lost his WBC belt to the 2016 Olympic gold medalist Conceicao in their previous fight on July 6th last year in Newark, New Jersey. After the loss, O’Shaquie complained nonstop, saying he deserved the win, and not shutting up about it.

He seemed to be a classic example of a sore loser in pure denial.  At least with Conceicao, he showed class, taking his controversial 12-round split decision loss in the rematch without crying about the outcome and having a childish fit. Foster really lost both fights, but the judges gave it to him in the rematch. The problem is, he’s too defensive, always looking to retreat when attacked by his opponents.

Putting him and Shakur Stevenson on the same card last July was a disaster because the fans started bailing out of the Prudential Center early. The ones that stayed were booing like mad, as if he’d never seen either of these guys before.

Rematch Riddle

It’s unclear if Fulton will return to the 126-lb division to reclaim his WBC featherweight title if he defeats Foster. With the Japanese star Naoya Inoue expected to move up to the featherweight division soon, it makes sense for Stephen to return to the weight class.

Inoue already destroyed Fulton in an effortless eighth-round knockout two years ago on July 25, 2023. So, it’s possible that when Naoya moves up to 126, he’ll ignore Fulton, viewing it as pointless to run it back.

If the only reason for Fulton returning to the featherweight division is hopes of getting a second payday against the Japanese star, he should forget about it and stay at 130 if he’s victorious against O’Shaguie.
