A few weeks ago, former NFL quarterback and ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky made an outlandish statement about the Pittsburgh Steelers that fans are not letting him forget about following Pittsburgh’s Week 13 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

During an appearance on “First Take” on Nov. 21, Orlovsky made a comment about the Steelers not being able to beat Lamar Jackson and some of the other tops signal-callers in the NFL simply by kicking field goals, even though they did just that against the Baltimore Ravens just days before.

“You’re not going to beat Lamar (Jackson), you’re not going to beat Josh Allen, you’re not going to beat Patrick Mahomes kicking field goals,” Orlovsky said.

The comment was so ridiculous that even future Hall of Famer and CBS analyst J.J. Watt had to call him out for it.

“Take the teams, names, etc., out of it,” Watt said. “‘You’re not gonna beat Team A by kicking only field goals’ is a WILD take to make 4 days after LITERALLY beating Team A with only field goals. That’s like the sports media equivalent of a (quarterback) running out the back of their own end zone.”

Well, the Steelers proved on Sunday that they are very capable of doing more than just kicking field goals after dropping 44 on the Bengals. However, that still wasn’t enough for Orlovsky to give Pittsburgh some credit, something Steelers fans promptly shredded him for.

Bear in mind, Orlovsky was singing a very different tune about the Ravens after they beat the Bengals in Week 10. There was no mention about Cincinnati’s defense, only praise for Jackson.

Orlovsky is one of the people in the media who pounded the table the most for the Steelers to keep starting Justin Fields over Russell Wilson once he was healthy. He was clearly very wrong about that, and one has to wonder if it’s creating a bias in his analysis of the Steelers.
