The Pittsburgh Steelers still have a major question mark at the quarterback position as the Aaron Rodgers waiting game continues.
The team drafted Will Howard in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL draft, but expecting a late-round pick to become a viable starter is expecting too much, especially in his first season in the NFL.
Along with Howard, the Steelers also have Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson, but neither player is a starting-caliber quarterback.
As the Steelers continue to wait on Rodgers, the team should continue exploring other options, and especially those that could offer a long-term solution under center.
One possible option is Tennessee Titans quarterback, Will Levis, who was recently suggested as a potential trade acquisition for the Steelers by Behind The Steel Curtain’s Mike Nicastro.
“But Levis still has some big-time tools. He’s 6’4, 230 lbs. – So, he’s built for the AFC North,” Nicastro wrote. “His arm is generally regarded as above average. My guess is it wouldn’t take much to pry him from the Titans, who clearly won’t factor him into their plans.
Levis was seen as the future in Tennessee after an impressive rookie season, but his career went completely off the rails in 2024 thanks to wildly-erratic play, which ultimately led to him getting benched for Rudolph.
Now, with the Titans drafting Cam Ward No. 1 overall, Levis’ days are numbered and it’s not outlandish to think he could be traded to fully clear the way for the Miami product and to avoid any kind of quarterback controversy.
Levis would offer the Steelers another starting quarterback option for 2025, and someone who could be a long-term answer if he can rebound with a change of scenery.
The Steelers would offer a much better situation for Levis, as he’d have a better offensive line and group of pass-catchers in Pittsburgh.
Even if the Steelers sign Rodgers, the search for their future signal-caller should not stop. That’s why it’s logical to think Levis, who could be acquired for a late-round pick, could be a target for Pittsburgh.
