Alex Lynn reckons the “sky is the limit” for Cadillac and the Jota team after the US manufacturer sealed a maiden World Endurance Championship victory at Interlagos on Sunday.
Lynn described the win notched up together with Will Stevens and Norman Nato in the #12 Cadillac V-Series.R LMDh as “just the beginning”.
“We can achieve everything we dream of with this programme and I am so excited,” said Lynn after the Sao Paulo 6 Hours. “I think the sky is the limit for this car and this partnership.”
Lynn paid testament to the British Jota squad, which took over the factory Cadillac programme in WEC from Chip Ganassi Racing for this season.
“Having driven this car for quite a few years now [since testing began in 2022], Jota has made a lot of improvements,” he added.
“It is surprising me how many steps we are making so quickly as a team. Every time I jump in the car, I think, bloody hell, I like this.”
Lynn confirmed that he was talking about a Le Mans 24 Hours victory when he referenced his and the team’s dreams.
“Le Mans is the one and is a race where the car is usually at its best,” explained Lynn, who was classified fourth together with Stevens and Nato in the blue riband WEC round in June this season.

“We had a good race, but not a Ferrari-type race this year, but feeling what I feel in the cockpit, I don’t see why we shouldn’t be fighting for the win.”
Jota team founder Sam Hignett explained that the squad “got a monkey off our backs” by maintaining its record of winning in class or overall every year in WEC for 11 seasons.
It joined the WEC full time in LMP2 2016 under the G-Drive Racing banner, but had won the class at Le Mans in 2014 and the Spa round in ’15 when it took part in the race as preparation for the French enduro.
“The expectation is always to win in the first year and go for the championship in years two and three,” he said.
He rated Sunday’s Interlagos 1-2 ahead of its first overall triumph with a customer Porsche 963 LMDh driven by Stevens and Callum Ilott at Spa last year.
“The Spa victory is special because it was our first win,” he explained. “We had a huge dose of luck, which enabled the win at Spa [after the race was restarted after a red flag].
“This, we genuinely won on pace: to not only win it, but finish second as well, it was fantastic.”
