STAMFORD BRIDGE’S capacity went DOWN this season while Newcastle have added SIX seats for the current campaign.

That saw their capacity increase from 39,414 at Goodison Park to 52,769 at Bramley-Moore Dock.

But they are not the only team to change the size of their ground for the 2025-26 season.

Because comparing the Premier League handbooks for the last campaign and this, there are five other clubs whose official stadium capacities at the start of 2025-26 are different from 2024-25.

The discrepancies tend to be down to minor configuration tweaks, adding extra hospitality seats or making small adjustments to TV camera positions and sightlines.

The most obvious change is at Fulham.

They finally opened their epic new £100million Riverside Stand to full capacity in May – complete with its very own swimming pool, Michelin-star chef and stunning views over the Thames.

The project took six years – not helped by delays due to Covid and building contractors going bust.

And it meant Craven Cottage’s capacity jumped from 24,500 to 27,782 from August 2024 to August 2025.

However, they are not the only fans in West London to have seen the number of seats change.

Down the road at Chelsea, though, Stamford Bridge can now fit FEWER fans into the ground.

The capacity has dropped by 129 from 40,173 to 40,044 due to minor tweaks at the old stadium.

And that will do little to please the long swathes of Chelsea fans desperate to get a ticket to see their beloved Blues live – especially after returning to the Champions League.

So for all the talk of a new stadium at Earl’s Court or even ambitious redevelopment plans of the existing venue to make it a bigger, better home, for the time being Stamford Bridge has got smaller.

Chelsea have not responded to SunSport’s request for comment to explain the reduction.

There are a lot of issues at Old Trafford – on the pitch and in the stadium.

But while there has been a leaking roof at the crumbling, dated iconic ground, there are at least a few more seats this season.

Manchester United made a minor tweak to the configuration of the seats at Old Trafford.

The small modifications saw remodelling of some vomitories in the stands to allow 47 extra seats to be installed.

CHELSEA

That bumped the total up from 74,197 to 74,244 to make the Premier League’s biggest ground even bigger.

Aston Villa are in the process of renovating Villa Park with a stunning £100m project to rebuild the North Stand and create a giant beer hall.

However, last season saw the Birmingham side squeeze in nearly 300 more seats as part of various updates at the ground, increasing the capacity from 42,918 to 43,205.

But the tiniest, weeniest, most subtle change of all came at Newcastle.

Toon fans are crying out for a stadium increase to fit even more of their vocal faithful into St James’ Park – or even a completely new arena.

For now, though, half a dozen new supporters can come in for this season.

Yes, that’s right: St James’ Park’s official capacity has made a giant leap from 52,258 to… 52,264.
