A TENNIS academy run by 22-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal has been hit by a devastating flood.

Torrential rain has battered several parts of Spain this week, including Majorca.

Severe flash flooding has occurred as a result, causing damage to local homes and businesses.

The Rafa Nadal Academy, based in Manacor, was one of the many buildings affected by the unprecedented weather conditions.

Both indoor and outdoor tennis courts were flooded in the wake of the huge storm.

A gym area was also damaged by flood water.

The tennis academy shared photos of the damage on social media earlier this week.

A caption read: “Thank you all very much for your messages of love after the huge storm we suffered.

“The important thing is that we are all well and working hard to recover as soon as possible normal life in the academy and the @proteccioncivilpalma.

“Thanks to @emergencies112_ib, @bombersdemallorca, @rafanadal_club and the maintenance and cleaning teams for your effort. And for all those who have been helping us!”

The devastating setback for Nadal has occurred just weeks before his final tennis match.

He is in line to represent Spain at the Davis Cup next month.
