Shocking number of fans & staff suffering serious injuries after mishaps at Premier League games revealed

FOOTBALL fans have suffered broken bones in dozens of accidents at Premier League grounds.

The mishaps include a Man Utd fan who missed a 5-4 comeback win over Lyon when he broke his arm in a trip on the way to the toilet.

In another mishap at Old Trafford, a supporter broke their ankle when they slipped.

And a similar injury befell a fan at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium when they slipped in the loo during the team’s home defeat to Brighton in May.

A Nottingham Forest fan dislocated his kneecap as he was trying to get back to his seat.

And one hospitality guest at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light went to A&E after an allergic reaction to a dessert.

They were among a litany of 32 injuries logged with the Health and Safety Executive in the year to November.

They were recorded as in each case the injured person needed at least seven days off work.

Some involved staff — an Arsenal worker broke a cheekbone when a ball hit them during an end-of-season kick-about at the Emirates.

At Wolves’ Molineux stadium a steward broke their arm in a fall and a CCTV operator was hurt falling off an office chair.

And an employee at Villa Park broke a finger when it got jammed between two beer kegs they were moving into position.

A health and safety expert said: “Sadly things sometimes do go wrong and we try to learn from those incidents.”
