The Browns quarterback depth chart got that much more crowded on Monday.
Cleveland inked fifth-round draft pick Shedeur Sanders to a four-year deal, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
The Colorado alum took part in rookie training camps over the past few weeks while attempting to strike a deal with upper management. On Monday, he did so, ensuring that he gets a chance to battle for a spot on Cleveland’s roster come the start of preseason.

Shedeur Sanders contract details
- Years: Four
- Value: $4.6 million
Sanders and the Browns agreed to terms for a four-year, $4.6 million contract. He’ll net an average annual value of $1.15 million, comparable to the AAV fellow fifth-round QB selections Spencer Rattler and Jordan Travis received last year.
Sanders, considered by some to be a first-round talent heading into the draft, tumbled down the board as rumors swirled about his fit and pre-draft process.
That did a number on his bank account; Sanders’ contract is nearly 12 times smaller than that of first-overall pick Cam Ward, while Giants QB Jaxson Dart will receive $17 million across that same four-year span.
Sanders will have his work cut out for him as he looks to stick on the big-league roster. Still, there appear to be an opportunity for the Colorado alum to establish himself in Cleveland’s QB room.
