Seahawks tabbed as most likely landing spot for 5-time Pro Bowl wide receiver

During this offseason, the Seattle Seahawks underwent massive changes on offense.

Reliable veteran quarterback Geno Smith was shipped to the Las Vegas Raiders, while star wide receiver D.K. Metcalf was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Veteran receiver Tyler Lockett was also cut in a cost-saving move after spending 10 seasons with the team.

The team did add to the receiver room as well, though. Longtime Ram Cooper Kupp was brought in, as was deep-threat Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Then. in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Seahawks used picks on two more receivers- Tory Horton and Ricky White III.

However, there may still be room for the team to make an outside addition. Luckily, there are some solid veterans still available like Amari Cooper for example.

Ezra Lombardi of The Lead believes Cooper will end up on the Seahawks before the season begins. Regarding that possibility, Lombardi offered the following:

The Seahawks’ wide receiver room has already undergone some drastic changes this offseason. In early March, Seattle dealt DK Metcalf to Pittsburgh, and then signed Cooper Kupp just a few days later.

Kupp should be a great addition, especially as a mentor for 23-year-old Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who has true All-Pro potential. But replacing the production of a player like Metcalf will take more than just these two.

Bringing in Cooper would allow both Kupp and Smith-Njigba to work out of the slot more often and attack the middle of the field where they do their best work. He will also be another proven weapon to support their $100 million investment in Sam Darnold.

As Lombardi mentioned, Cooper would fit in nicely next to Kupp and Smith-Njigba. Both of those receivers do their best work out of the slot, and Cooper gets open on the boundary.

In 2024, Cooper played in six games for the Cleveland Browns before being traded to the Buffalo Bills mid-season and playing in eight games. In total, Cooper caught 44 passes for 547 yards and four touchdowns.

The 2024 season was the worst of Cooper’s career, and that could be why he’s still available. However, half of his games were with a very bad Browns’ team and the other half were with the Bills, who already had a rhythm going when Cooper got there.

Overall, Cooper has made five Pro Bowls in his 10-year career. The Alabama product has eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark seven times in his career and has earned a reputation as one of the best route-runners in the league.

Spotrac originally projected Cooper to land a two-year deal worth $18.9 million annually. However, at this point in the offseason, the veteran may have to settle for a smaller deal.
