The Seattle Seahawks may move on from wide receiver DK Metcalf this offseason. The 27-year-old is entering the final year of his contract, and general manager John Schneider could trade the star receiver instead of giving him another long-term extension. Metcalf also looked disgruntled at times last season.

If Seattle is open to trading the two-time Pro Bowler, Fantasy Life’s Ian Hartitz predicts Metcalf will land with the New England Patriots.

“Patriots WRs ranked dead last in receiving yards (1,723) last season–the sixth-lowest single-season mark among any offense since 2020. Whether it’s chasing Metcalf, Tee Higgins, or devoting multiple high-end draft picks to the position in the draft: Let’s get Maye some actual elite talent on the outside and see what happens,” Hartitz wrote.

Though Metcalf is coming off a down year where he posted just 992 yards, his lowest tally since 2021, and five touchdowns, the former Ole Miss is one of the most talented playmakers in football and would be a fantastic addition to New England’s offense.

Quarterback Drake Maye showed a ton of promise during his rookie campaign, but the 2024 No.3 overall pick didn’t have an established No.1 pass catcher. Metcalf would step right in as Maye’s primary receiver, and the pair would form a formidable duo.

New England also has the resources necessary to pull off a trade for Metcalf and also sign him to an extension. The Patriots have four picks in the top 100 of April’s draft and also have the most cap space in the league this offseason at $127 million. Metcalf still has a year left on his current contract, and the franchise has a ton of money for the future, so getting an extension done with the former second-round pick shouldn’t be an issue.

Overall, the Patriots must do all they can to surround Maye with a talented supporting cast. DK Metcalf was inconsistent last year, but the veteran is a dynamic playmaker who would elevate New England’s offense and serve as the team’s No.1 receiver of the future.
