The Seattle Seahawks offensive line will likely field a couple of new starters in 2025, but one player who will reprise their role as a starter is left tackle Charles Cross. The 2022 No.9 overall pick has started 48 games in his first three seasons for the Seahawks and started all 17 contests for the second time in his career in 2024.
Cross has stabilized the left tackle position for Seattle, and keeping him around long-term seems like a no-brainer. However, Seahawks general manager John Schneider spoke to the media on Monday and didn’t state whether the franchise will be picking up Cross’ fifth-year option.
“I’ll answer that a later date,” Schneider said when asked about Cross’ upcoming fifth-year option.
Question: Do you anticipate picking up Charles Cross’ 5th-year option?
John Schneider: “I’ll answer that a later date.”
The deadline is May 1. Charles’ option is worth $17.5M

Seattle would be foolish not to exercise Cross’ option. The 24-year-old is set to receive a massive contract extension in the coming years, so retaining him for another guaranteed year in 2026 would be a logical move. According to Over the Cap, Cross’ fifth-year option will be worth around $17.5 million.
Teams have until May. 1 to make decisions on their player’s fifth-year options, so the Seahawks still have some time to think. However, this shouldn’t take much thought.
Cross is on his way to being one of the better offensive tackles in football, and is a true building block for Mike Macdonald’s squad. The Seahawks should pick up his option and begin having extension talks with their franchise left tackle.
