Garcia fired back on X after Haney pushed for a September fight tied to immediate drug testing, turning the exchange personal and dismissing the timeline entirely.

“Why are you such a pussy I want to know genuinely,” Garcia said. “I told you I don’t care if you test me. You are a bitch. You know in your heart you got beat.”

Haney’s position hasn’t changed. He tied the rematch to stricter testing and questioned Garcia’s urgency.

“He wanna fight in July cause he still cycling those PEDS. September & start drug testing now.”

The disagreement cuts straight to the only issue that matters. Garcia is pressing for July. Haney is anchoring everything to a longer testing window. Those two ideas don’t meet in the middle easily.

Haney has every right to demand strict protocols given the history, but Garcia’s “all-gas-no-brakes” approach is what sells the tickets. If they can’t agree on a start date for VADA testing by the end of next month, don’t be surprised if both men move on to different opponents for the summer.

From where I’m sitting, this feels less like a simple scheduling conflict and more like a total breakdown in trust that neither side is ready to fix.

After getting dropped three times in the first fight, Devin is in a position where, even though the record says “No Contest,” the fans remember him on the canvas. By demanding a long, transparent lead-up for a September date, he’s trying to ensure that if he wins, there are zero asterisks.

Ryan, on the other hand, is leaning into his role as the “chaos agent.” He knows he has the momentum after beating Mario Barrios last month. By pushing for July, he’s trying to catch Haney before Haney can fully mentally reset.

Their first fight in April 2024 still hangs over the talks. Garcia dropped Haney three times and took a decision that was later overturned to a no-contest after a positive test for Ostarine. That result keeps shaping how this rematch is being negotiated.

A September date in Las Vegas has been discussed, but nothing is finalized. Ryan’s push for a quicker return and Haney’s insistence on stricter conditions are pulling in opposite directions.

Ryan is reportedly demanding A-side status because he’s the bigger draw, but Haney is a three-weight world champion who just unified more hardware. They’re both right, which usually means no one is moving.

Haney’s demand for “immediate” testing is both a safety and a public relations move to remind everyone why the first win was overturned. Ryan’s dismissal of it as “being a pussy” is classic Ryan, but it doesn’t help get a contract signed.

With rumors of a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao rematch around the same time in September, these guys are fighting for a window that is getting crowded and expensive.
