Ryan Garcia Retaliates: ‘I Did Damage to Devin Haney That Can Never Be Reversed’

Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney’s father, Bill Haney, got into it on X yesterday. Seemingly still stewing about the battering of his son, Devin (32-0, 15 KOs), at the hands of Kingry a year ago on April 20, 2024, Bill compared Raja Jackson’s attack of professional wrestler Stuart Smith at KnokX Pro Wrestling event in Los Angeles on August 23, 2025, to Ryan’s fight against Haney last year.

Bill used the phrase “PED rage” in comparing Ryan’s April 20th performance to the Raja vs. Smith incident. Haney was knocked down three times by Kingry in his 12-round majority decision loss at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The right side of Devin’s face was swollen from the short check left hooks that Garcia had repeatedly hit him with in the fight.

Kingry’s Comeback

In reaction to Bill’s comment, Ryan said on X, “I did damage to Dev that can never be reversed.”

Right up there with Ryan Garcia’s PED rage on 4/20. Is this a side effect from a more serious underlying problem in sports & entertainment? Is this “Roid Rage”? https://t.co/I1RQgQ7c8o

Ryan isn’t the only one who believes he “did damage’ to Haney from his fight last year. Boxing Hall of Famer, Tim Bradley, suspects that the former two-division world champion Devin, 26, has “PTSD” [Post Traumatic Stress Disorder] from the beating he took from Garcia.

“Devin Haney looked like a shell of himself out there against Ramirez,” said Bradley to ESPN, reacting to Devin’s performance against Jose Ramirez on May 2, 2025, at Times Square in New York City.

Bradley Suspects PTSD

“You can’t tell me he doesn’t have some PTSD from that Ryan Garcia fight. Getting dropped three times…it does something to a fighter’s psyche. He was gunshy, man,” said Bradley about Devin.

Haney spent much of the Ramirez fight circling the ring, avoiding contact with the 33-year-old former WBC and WBO light welterweight champion. Although Devin won the fight by a wide 12-round unanimous decision, his cautious approach was criticized by fans, who viewed it as a “Jerry-like” performance.

“Devin Haney’s performance was a big part of it. He looked fearful out there, like he didn’t want to be in the ring,” said Top Rank promoter Bob Arum via boxingnews24.
