Keyshawn Davis says if Ryan Garcia beats Devin Haney in their potential rematch in October the same way he did last April, Dev needs to retire. It would be hard for Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) to deal with another beating like Kingry (24-1, 20 KOs) dished out last year at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
As many times as Haney went down last April, he may be a shell of himself and picked off long before he gets to the rematch with Garcia. Bill Haney is going to be a nervous wreck on May 2nd.
Tournament Pressure
Haney took a year off after that loss, but that doesn’t guarantee he will be rejuvenated in vintage factory-level form for the rematch with Garcia. That’s if there is one. Ryan said the May 2nd ‘Fatal Fury’ event is an elimination tournament at Times Square in New York City.
That means if Haney loses his fight against Jose Ramirez or if Garcia gets beaten by Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero in the main event, there won’t be a Garcia-Haney rematch in October. It’s set up so that both guys must win to get the golden prize rematch, which is where the big money comes in.
“Ryan, for sure. Ryan is going to stop Rolly,” said Keyshawn Davis to the Danza Project, predicting that Ryan Garcia will knock out Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero on May 2nd. “Ryan Garcia will probably do it to him again, too,” said Davis about his belief that Garcia dominates Davin Haney in their rematch if it happens in October.
“If he [Ryan] does it like that, bro [Haney] might as well retire,” said Keyshawn, suggesting that Devin should retire if he gets beaten in the same fashion by Kingry in the rematch. “I hope he don’t get done again like that. If he does it again like that, it would be crazy.”
We know Devin is NOT going to retire, but his career won’t be worth much. He’ll be useful for the new boxing league that is being formed. Haney would be like a George Kambosos Jr.-type guy, who used an opponent for young stars.
“I think Ryan will probably still win, though. I wouldn’t be surprised if Devin wins. As an amateur, I was there and saw the fights,” said Keyshawn. “The times that Ryan won, you seen what happened. That’s how it happened in the amateurs. When Devin won, he won by unanimous decision, like boxing.
“So, I wouldn’t be surprised if Devin comes out and boxes him. But if Ryan wins again, [it’s going to be the same way]. Every time he wins, he f**** him up. I’m saying if he [Haney] loses again like that because right now, it’s looking bad for him. It’s like, ‘Nah, you got to get your rematch. Even if you lose, you’re showing something better than that.’ If you lose like that, it’s definitely going to be crazy,” said Keyshawn.
