Davis quoted Ryan’s post and accepted the idea of a rematch, but only at a lower catchweight.
“No lie, for you I’ll do 144. Word, say it’s a bet! And I’ll get this [stuff] I’m going through out the way! Just give the word,” said Davis, who added in another post that he had already talked to Al Haymon.
Ryan had not publicly answered the 144-pound offer at the time of publication. His original demand suggests that Tank will have to come all the way to 147 if he wants the fight.
That is fair. Ryan naively accepted a 136-pound catchweight and a 10-pound rehydration restriction for their first meeting, despite having the larger social media following. He allowed Tank’s management to control the terms and paid for it when Davis stopped him with a body shot in the seventh round.
Things have changed since 2023.
Tank has not fought since his disputed draw with Lamont Roach Jr. in March 2025. His popularity has deteriorated through inactivity, lackluster opposition, and his refusal to take risky fights. The aura surrounding him after the first Ryan fight is no longer as powerful.
Ryan has gone in the opposite direction. His two-round destruction of Conor Benn at T-Mobile Arena restored his value and reminded fans why he remains one of boxing’s largest attractions. His social media advantage over Tank is greater than it was three years ago.
Dropping to 144 would require Ryan to accommodate the smaller fighter again. Why should he surrender anything? Tank chose the weight and rehydration terms the first time. Ryan is entitled to establish the conditions for the rematch.
If Davis wants that payday badly enough, he will accept 147 pounds. If three pounds prevent him from signing, Ryan’s claim that Tank “don’t want the smoke” will become increasingly difficult to dispute.
