Ryan Garcia says he’s still open to fighting Devin Haney next in a rematch or running it back with Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero after his loss to him on Friday night. Garcia (24-2, 20 KOs) is leaving it up to the fans to decide. It would look bad for Garcia to walk away from his loss to Romero (17-3, 13 KOs) without trying to avenge it first.

Romero knocked Garcia down in the second round en route to a 12-round unanimous decision at Times Square in New York City. Ryan says he didn’t feel like he was “progressing” in the fight. He looked weak and tired. Garcia’s punching power in his last fight against Haney was gone. Some boxing fans on social media are saying that his lackluster performance is a sign that he’s lost his power now that he’s off PEDs.

Fan’s Choice?

If Ryan walks away from his defeat against Rolly without trying to avenge it, it’s going to look bad. Trying to see a fight between him and Haney after a loss will make it tough.

“Whatever the fans want. If they want me to run it back with Rolly, let’s do it. If they want me to go straight back to Devin, let’s do it,” said Ryan Garcia during the post-fight press conference following his loss to Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero on Friday night, when asked if he still wants to fight Devin Haney next or face Rolando in a rematch.

Ryan needs to take responsibility for his own decisions rather than leaving it up to the fan. It’s his career. He’s not going to be able to make fans forget about his loss by fighting Haney.

“I’m willing to try any of them again. I couldn’t get anything going for myself in training camp,” said Ryan. “I didn’t feel like I had more conditioning or more energy. I didn’t feel like I was progressing in any way. I mentioned to Derrick, and we were starting to figure it out.

“We only had five weeks. It was one of those things where I didn’t know what was going on. I don’t know why I couldn’t get no progressive sharpness coming into camp. We were still training, but nothing was clicking,” said Garcia.
