Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero predicts Terence Crawford will outbox Canelo Alvarez initially, as Amir Khan did, and then get caught with a big shot out of nowhere to get knocked cold on September 13th.

Rolly feels that Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) is giving away a lot of size in this fight, going up to 168 to challenge Canelo (62-2-2, 39 KOs) for his three belts. He sees Crawford in the same position Canelo was when he moved up from 168 to 175 to fight Dmitry Bivol in 2022. He was too small. It’s worse for Crawford because he’s moving up 14 lbs from 154 to 168.

Crawford just got to 154 in his last fight and he did not perform well in his debut against Israil Madrimov last August. That fight showed that Crawford isn’t going to be able to capture all the belts without losing repeatedly. He’s too small, old and weak to beat fighters like Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Bakhram Murtazaliev.

Terence would have a better chance if he moved up to 168 and got a couple of fights under his belt against these fighters:

– Osleys Iglesias
– Diego Pacheco
– Christian Mbilli
– Caleb Plant
– David Morrell

Crawford isn’t about to fight any of those killers because the chances of him taking a loss would be too high. Turki Alalshikh obviously would still let Bud fight Canelo, but he’d go into the match half-stunned, still reeling from the beat down the above fighters would dish out. However, at least he would get some experience first, and be giving himself a chance against Alvarez.

Age Tells

“He’s 38 years old. Yeah, he saw something in Canelo. He’s about to see the canvas,” said Rolly Romerto to Fighthype, talking about Terence Crawford’s withered age ahead of his fight against Canelo Alvarez on September 13th. “Canelo doesn’t even jab no more. All he throws is left hooks.

Bud Crawford looked his age in his last fight against Madrimov. He was not the young fighter that first arrived at 147 in 2018. His hair is turning silver, receding like the tide. That’s age. He got hit more times than I could ever remember by ‘Little GGG’ Madrimov, and his face looked all swollen up.

“Crawford’s not even a mover. He just used his length to stay far away. He has good timing on his shots. He can crack people going backwards. It’s not like Crawford would be switching during the round. He either comes out orthodox or southpaw,” said Rolly.

Crawford can move still, but only for brief periods due to his age. If he tries moving like Mayweather did against Canelo, he’ll blow a gasget and be stuck on the side of the road, helpless.

KO Incoming

“Bivol was way bigger than him. The same s*** that you saw Canelo fighting Bivol is the same s*** of Crawford moving up two weight classes to fight Canelo,” said Rolly. “Bivol is not a puncher. Canelo was trying to win the whole time, but Bivol was too big.

“Crawford is going to go in there and box Canelo’s head off the same way Amir Khan did, and of nowhere, boom. Then we’re going to see a dead roach on the ground,” said Rolly.
