Rodin Motorsport to make surprise sportscar debut in British GT in 2026

Rodin Motorsport to make surprise sportscar debut in British GT in 2026

Junior single-seater powerhouse Rodin Motorsport will make its sportscar racing debut when it enters the 2026 British GT Championship with a Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo.

The Surrey-based outfit has a huge presence across junior competition from British GT support series GB3 to Formula 1 feeder series Formula 2, where its driver Alex Dunne finished fifth in the 2025 standings.

Rodin was founded in 2024 after it completed a takeover of Carlin Motorsport, which also had immense success in junior racing with the likes of Lando Norris, George Russell and Yuki Tsunoda in its ranks.

Now Rodin will transition into sportscars by entering Britain’s top GT championship, with the 2026 campaign starting with the three-hour Silverstone 500 on 25-26 April.

Sporting director Benn Huntingford said: “We’re pleased to be adding a British GT programme to our activities for 2026. It’s a well-established championship with strong competition and we’ll approach it with the same professionalism we bring to all of our racing operations.”

This will be the ninth championship on Rodin’s portfolio after F2, F3, GB3, F1 Academy, British F4, Spanish F4, UAE F4 and the Formula Winter Series.

Its best results have come in GB3 having won the last two drivers’ crowns through Louis Sharp – 2024 Silverstone Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award finalist – and then Alex Ninovic, both of whom dominated their respective campaigns.

And although this will be Rodin’s first attempt in British GT, its founder David Dicker in 2002 bought the only Sintura S99, which was a GT1 car that contested the 1999 campaign.

“At Rodin, we are always looking for new opportunities,” said Dicker. “GT3 is one of the strongest racing categories in the world and we are very happy to join it, especially with a Ferrari.”

Rodin’s 2026 British GT line-up is yet to be revealed, but whatever the pairing is it will no doubt go up against a strong grid which boasted five factory drivers this year: Maximilian Gotz (Mercedes), Jonny Adam (Aston Martin), Sandy Mitchell (Lamborghini), Marvin Kirchhofer (McLaren) and Sven Muller (Porsche).

The 2025 season also featured the Spirit of Race Ferrari, which finished 13th in the standings with drivers Matt Griffin and Duncan Cameron, for what was the Italian marque’s first British GT season since 2020.

It is not yet clear how many Ferraris will be on this year’s grid, because the only other announced entry thus far is an Aston Martin GT4 run by GBR Stratton Motorsport.

Next season will span six race weekends ending at Brands Hatch on 26-27 September, with 2 Seas Mercedes duo Kiern Jewiss and Charles Dawson are the reigning champions.
