Happy Sunday, Red Sox nation. Can you believe we get to watch Red Sox baseball? They’re the hottest team in baseball right now and going for a sweep of the villains of the league, the Los Angeles Dodgers. It’s Jake Bennett vs Emmett Sheehan, in what will hopefully be a great showcase of what the Red Sox are doing to a national audience.
That brings me to my next point, which is: what the Red Sox have done over the last month or so is what we should be talking about. The trade deadline is coming up, there are moves to be made, and speculating about them is fun, so go right ahead on that front. What I don’t care about is the upcoming CBA negotiations and how the Tarik Skubal trade affects that. That’s not for another 3 months. Talking about labor stoppages and economics is boring. Talking about a baseball team going on an insane hot streak is fun. Sports are fun! Don’t lose sight of that. Watch a rookie starting pitcher throw to a lineup full of all-stars and enjoy it. Watch Ceddanne Rafaela go nuclear at the plate and make diving catches in the field without worrying about if there’s a salary cap coming. We’re playing great baseball right now, and that’s what’s important.
Sorry for being preachy; I spent too much time reading Twitter this morning, and I think we’re all losing the plot a bit.
7:20 pm on NBC and Peacock and probably the radio too.
