The Los Angeles Chargers could be in the market for wide receiver help ahead of the November 5 trade deadline (fans sure hope they are), but the options for a quality addition are becoming more and more limited.

Other contending teams have already made moves to acquire Amari Cooper, Deandre Hopkins and Diontae Johnson, but the Chargers have been rumored to be interested in bringing in Mike Williams, their former first-round pick, who left this season in free agency. Williams is now with the New York Jets but has been used sparingly in recent weeks, particularly after the team acquired Davante Adams in a trade of its own.

Williams was good when he was healthy for the Chargers but that wasn’t often enough and that was likely a huge contributor in the team moving on from him this offseason. That said, he would be a solid addition to the team’s current wide receiver group, which has dealt with a slew of injuries so far this season.

But the Jets may dash any hopes of this coming to fruition.

On Thursday, the Jets placed wide receiver Allen Lazard on injured reserve with a chest injury. He will be required to miss at least the next four games for the team.

The Jets have an incredible one-two punch with Adams and Garrett Wilson, but the loss of Lazard, combined with their win over the Houston Texans on Thursday night, may change things. That win may take the Jets off of “seller” status and more on the side of unwilling to part with any assets.

That could include Williams, who the team may need to move into more of a prominent role without Lazard and considering this boneheaded play by rookie Malachi Corley on Thursday night.

The Chargers may want to bring Williams back, but the Jets may not be listening to offers.

If Mike Williams is unavailable, what does WR trade market look like?

The Chargers may have to consider a more minor addition with all of the big names that have already found new teams or may just not be for sale.

Darius Slayton of the New York Giants and K.J. Osborn of the New England Patriots are some options that could be available. Though it would require a much bigger return, Tee Higgins of the Cincinnati Bengals is constantly connected to trade talks.

In a matter of days, fans will see if the team decides to make a move or if it has to tackle the remainder of the season with the receivers already on the roster.
