REAL MADRID have reportedly entered the race to sign wantaway Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
The 20-year-old rose to prominence under former United boss Erik ten Hag.
Mainoo’s displays over the last two years have seen him become a fully-fledged England international.
But despite his immense talent and future promise, United are willing to CASH IN on the midfielder to help balance the books.
The Red Devils’ Premier League rivals Chelsea have held a long-term interest in acquiring his services.
But according to The Daily Mail, European giants Real are also keen on snapping up the midfielder.
They claim Los Blancos are “keeping tabs” on Mainoo’s situation at Old Trafford.
Real’s local rivals Atletico are also said to be keen on signing the England star, who has seemingly fallen down the pecking order under Ruben Amorim.
It’s claimed that both clubs are interested in initially signing Mainoo on a season-long loan.
Real and Atletico are reportedly two of TEN CLUBS interested in signing Mainoo.
Mainoo has yet to feature for United this season and was an unused sub against Arsenal and Fulham.
Following his return from a muscle injury in April, Mainoo has only played 90 minutes TWICE and has reportedly grown frustrated with being on the periphery of the starting XI.
And he’s understood to be open to moving on to pastures new, something Amorim admitted could be on the horizon in January.
The Portuguese said: “Our idea is always to keep the best players and the players we build for this club.
“But we know the position the club is in at the moment. We will see.
“I really like the players, especially the guys from the academy.”
When asked specifically about Mainoo, he added: “My players are always my favourites, so I really love my players.
We know the position the club is in at the moment.”
Ruben Amorim on potentially selling Kobbie Mainoo
“I want to keep my players, especially the talented ones.
“So like I said, it’s a special moment in this club, it’s a hard moment, we’ll see.
“But, of course, I’m really happy with Kobbie.
“He is improving and also with the academy.”
