Ravens’ Derrick Henry makes retirement plans clear after new contract extension

Derrick Henry’s relatively advanced age for a running back was a talking point even before his monstrous 2024 season.

Now, with a new contract extension agreed upon? Everyone wants to know how long the Ravens star RB is sticking around.

Henry turned 31 in January, and he just signed a two-year extension for the richest value of any player his age at his position.

On Monday, he held a press conference to celebrate the signing of his deal, and he cleared up his thinking about the future.

“I think I’m just focused on this year and then focused on continuing to get better year after year that I’m here. And that’s always going to be my focus,” Henry told reporters. “And, yeah, I love football. I love playing. I know people look at the age, but I don’t really try to focus on that. I just focus on, how can Derrick Henry be better? How can Derrick Henry help the Ravens get to where they want to get to and me being the best teammate I can be to my teammates.”

Henry joined Baltimore in 2024 after spending his entire career up to that point with the Tennessee Titans.

His backfield partnership with Lamar Jackson puts a ton of pressure on opposing defenses.

Henry ran for 1,921 rushing yards and 16 TDs. The Ravens set a new single-season team record for rushing average.

King Henry added a new chapter to his legacy by putting up his huge season at age 30.

The only thing left for Henry, really, is to win a Super Bowl. And it seems like he’s sticking around to try and do so.
