STORM EOWYN is causing havoc up and down the country, with gale force winds and torrential rain.

And football has not been unaffected, with stadia taking some serious damage from the conditions.

One SPFL game has already been called off due to damage caused by the storm, and part of another club’s stadium roof has caved in from the wind.

And now Rangers’ Ibrox Stadium has become the latest victim, with footage showing strips of the roof being blown clean off.

The pieces are then blown off the building by the wind and fall down to street level.

Luckily for Gers, their match this weekend is away against Dundee United at Tannadice Park.

However, it remains to be seen whether any necessary repairs will be made in time for the visit of Union St Gilloise in the final league phase match of the Europa League on Thursday.

Pictures also revealed that a separate part of the stadium also received damage and is now missing construction materials.

And this isn’t the first setback Rangers have faced to their home ground this season.

Summer redevelopment work to the Copland Stand at Ibrox ran over into this campaign, leaving Gers having to play ‘home’ matches against Motherwell, St Johnstone and Ross County at Hampden Park.

And earlier this month, fans CHOSE not to be in Ibrox when the Union Bears staged a walk-out protest against the board in the game against St Johnstone.

Meanwhile, Storm Eowyn has reportedly caused a delay to Celtic’s efforts to resign Jota.

Storm Eowyn batters Glasgow with high winds forcing many people to stay indoors as a red weather warning was put in place

The Hoops are on the brink of a deal to bring the Portuguese winger back to the club, whilst Kyogo Furuhashi replaces the forward at Rennes.

Jota was even supposed to fly into Glasgow last night to seal his deal, but the stormy conditions meant the flight was cancelled.

Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “Rennes winger Jota was due to fly to Glasgow last night ahead of his proposed move to Celtic but has been delayed by Storm Eowyn.

“Jota is now expected to travel to Glasgow over the weekend to finalise personal terms and paperwork.”
