The Las Vegas Raiders have begun their head coaching search after firing Antonio Pierce on Tuesday due to a disappointing 4-13 season in 2024. Along with firing Pierce, the Raiders moved on from general manager Tom Telesco, meaning the franchise will have a different head coach-general manager combo to start the season for the third consecutive year.
Las Vegas will bring in a plethora of candidates for interviews and will do a ton of research before hiring their fourth head coach since 2021. You can see all the head coaching interview updates for the Raiders here.
Though many expect Las Vegas to chase the high-level head coaching candidates, including former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel and Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, a Raiders reporter revealed on Friday that a Super Bowl-winning head coach is gaining a ton of momentum for the job.
According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is a name to keep an eye on over the next few weeks as the Raiders prepare to hire a new head coach.
“A lot of momentum is building for Pete Carroll,” Bonsignore posted on X. “In many ways, he is exactly what they need right now. Likely with a protegee/successor that comes on board with him.”

Carroll had a ton of success when he was the Seahawks head coach from 2010-2023, posting a 137-89-1 record in the regular season, notching ten playoff wins, and taking home Super Bowl Super Bowl XLVIII. The California native isn’t the most exciting candidate, but Carroll is a fantastic culture builder and leader of men. Carroll will interview for the Raiders head coaching job next week, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
We’ll see how the next few weeks play out but don’t rule out Pete Carroll as a strong contender for Las Vegas’ head coaching position.
