When it comes to the wish list of quarterbacks for the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2025 NFL Draft, there’s no question that Shedeur Sanders tops the list. However, the Raiders are going to have to be in the right draft position to grab him, as it’s very possible he’s the first quarterback off the board in April.

As things stand now, the Raiders sit in the No. 5 spot in the 2025 NFL Draft order, according to Tankathon. That puts them in striking distance for Sanders, but Las Vegas also has three other teams in front of them that could be looking for a quarterback in the New York Giants, Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns.

Knowing that, Sanders might be off the board before the Raiders are on the clock, and that’s exactly how things play out in a recent mock draft by Sporting News’ Vinnie Iyer, who has Sanders going to the Giants at No. 2.

Then, Miami’s Cam Ward goes to the Browns in Iyer’s mock, but the Raiders still come away with a quarterback, with the team landing Alabama’s Jalen Milroe with the No. 5 overall pick.

“The Raiders can’t mess around with bridge options and later-round rookies,” Iyer wrote on the pick. “They need to land a franchise dual-threat QB and build around him with their next full-time offensive schemer. Milroe fits that bill.”

There will be some debate about the order of the top quarterbacks in next year’s draft, but Milroe is definitely in the top three, at the very least, along with Ward and Sanders. As such, coming away with the Alabama product would still be a huge win for the Raiders.

According to The Draft Network’s Keith Sanchez, Milroe is an explosive athlete who can make plays with his legs, and he possesses elite arm strength. Milroe does need work on accuracy and ball placement, though, but the upside is certainly there for him to be the long-term answer Las Vegas is looking for.

“Jalen Milroe has high-level physical tools that, when utilized properly, can result in him becoming a premier playmaker at the quarterback position,” Sanchez wrote.

A big concern about any quarterback the Raiders draft is the team having the right coaching staff in place. Right now, they do not, so something will have to change if the Raiders want to maximize whichever quarterback they bring in.
