The Las Vegas Raiders could be in the market for an edge rusher this offseason, as Malcolm Koonce is set to hit unrestricted free agency, and the team lacks reliable players in the position group outside of Maxx Crosby.

The 2025 NFL Draft is filled with a bunch of talented edge rushers, but FanSided’s Russell S. Baxter believes the Raiders should target former Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Joey Bosa in free agency to address the potential need.

“Nine-year veteran Joey Bosa was just cut loose by the division-rival Chargers. The five-time Pro Bowler hasn’t played a full season since 2019, but his presence (when available) could make things even easier for Crosby,” Baxter wrote.

“What’s really interesting is that Bosa has faced the Raiders a dozen times, and has more sacks (10.5) and forced fumbles (5) vs. the Silver and Black than any other NFL team. The veteran defender could also come at the right price,” Baxter added.

Bosa has dealt with a ton of injuries over the past three years and posted just five sacks in 14 games last year. The 29-year-old hasn’t tallied a double-digit sack season since 2021 and may never return to his elite form.

Though Bosa has struggled to stay on the field recently and hasn’t been very productive when healthy, the five-time Pro Bowler would be a fantastic low-risk, high-reward signing by the Raiders. Bosa won’t cost too much to sign and could flourish with a change of scenery. The former first-round pick could also form a dominant duo with Crosby and elevate Las Vegas’ defensive line.

The Raiders have $50.9 million in cap space to utilize in free agency, which is plenty of money to sign Bosa and address remaining needs. Las Vegas already filled their most pressing need, quarterback, as the team acquired Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks on Friday.
