Raheem Sterling forced to train alone at 8PM as £325k-a-week star lays bare brutal reality of Chelsea bomb squad

Raheem Sterling forced to train alone at 8PM as £325k-a-week star lays bare brutal reality of Chelsea bomb squad

RAHEEM STERLING laid bare the brutal reality of Chelsea’s bomb squad after being forced to train alone at 8 o’clock at NIGHT.

The 30-year-old failed to secure a deadline day move away from Stamford Bridge despite reported interest from Bayern Munich, who ended up signing teammate Nicolas Jackson, and Italians Napoli — who landed Man United’s Rasmus Hojlund instead.

It means former Arsenal loanee Sterling will remain at Chelsea on his £325,000-a-week contract until at least January.

And after being exiled from Enzo Maresca’s main squad, the former Man City star is now part of a two-man ‘bomb squad’ alongside defender Axel Disasi.

Renato Veiga, Ben Chilwell and David Datro Fofana had also been part of the group before securing late moves away from Chelsea.

But as for Sterling, he must now train by himself as his west London nightmare continues.

The forward laid bare the reality of his situation by posting a picture from Chelsea’s Cobham training ground.

Sterling revealed he was about to start a solo training session while noting the time of 8.21pm.

It was unclear whether Disasi, who spent part of last season on loan at Aston Villa, was also involved.

Sterling cost £47.5million when Chelsea signed him from Man City in 2022.

But he managed just 19 goals in 81 games before moving to Arsenal last term, where he netted just once in 28 appearances.

As a result, the last of Sterling’s 82 England caps came in 2022.

And with no new club on the horizon, his chances of earning a spot in England’s World Cup squad under Thomas Tuchel — the man who pushed to sign him for Chelsea — are practically nought.

Meanwhile, Maresca ruled out a return for Sterling when asked about his future last week.

The Blues boss said: “They are Chelsea players but are still training apart. But I haven’t seen them since the start of the season.

“They train on a different pitch at a different time. (A return for Sterling?) No.”
