Pula Golf Resort will make history next month when the prestigious European Senior Ladies’ Team Championship heads to the Mallorca resort for the first time.
The leading amateur event, open to women over 50 and organised by the European Golf Association, has been played annually since 2006 and take place at Pula from September 2-6.
Held over five days, the competition’s format is comprised of two rounds of stroke play followed by three days of match play; the top eight teams (each made up of six of the nation’s best senior female amateurs) from stroke play will advance to ‘Flight A’ to contend for medals. The remaining teams will compete in Flights B and C to determine their final positions.
Defending champions France are the most successful team in the history of the competition with five wins, while hosts Spain have triumphed twice in the last four years and will be hopeful of another victory on home soil.
José María Olazábal’s course at Pula has proven itself a worthy venue for illustrious events, including staging seven DP World Tour tournaments and a host of high-profile charity events including the Olazábal & Nadal Invitational and the Battle of Stars have also graced Pula’s fairways in recent years.
In addition, tennis legends Rafael Nadal – who is a regular guest at the Battle of Stars – and Roger Federer enjoyed a game on the par-72 layout in July.

Pula Golf Resort was founded in 1995 and quickly established itself as one of Spain’s best golf getaway venues, a reputation that was further enhanced when Olazábal completely redesigned the course between 2004 and 2006.
