Holding the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans are expected to draft Cam Ward. With the draft approaching, there’s plenty that could change, but most rumors suggest the Titans will end their quarterback drama by drafting the Miami star.
If the Titans have a change of heart, there are a few ways they could go. Tennessee could allow Will Levis to be its guy again and see what he has, or it could trade for a franchise quarterback.
Levis has all the tools to be great, featuring a strong arm and more. However, if the Titans want to compete as early as 2025-26, having a proven quarterback could be the plan.
In a proposed trade from Grant Cohn of Sports Illustrated, he pitched the idea of the San Francisco 49ers sending Brock Purdy to the Titans for a 2025 first-rounder and a conditional second-rounder for next year.
“If Purdy and his agent refuse to budge, the 49ers could give them permission to seek a trade. And the Tennessee Titans just might be interested. The Titans currently own the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft and are expected to take Miami quarterback Cam Ward. But most draft analysts agree that Ward isn’t the best prospect in the draft — Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter.
“So instead of drafting Ward, the Titans could draft Carter and trade for Purdy. They would send a first-round pick this year and a conditional second-rounder next year that could become a first-rounder if the Titans make the playoffs and Purdy stays healthy,” Cohn wrote.

The Titans don’t have two first-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, so this trade wouldn’t be possible unless Tennessee is willing to move No. 1, which would be questionable for Purdy.
Purdy would be an intriguing fit on the Titans. While he’s perfected the 49ers system, the talent is clearly there.
However, having Ward on a rookie deal is much more intriguing, even if there are growing pains.
