The Las Vegas Raiders finished their 2024 campaign with a 4-13 record and in fourth place in the AFC West, leading to the firings of head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco after just one year.
Since then, Las Vegas has hired Pete Carroll and John Spytek to run the team, and they’ve made some big changes to their roster, including sending out a third-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks in a trade for quarterback Geno Smith.
With Smith paired with Carroll again, the Raiders should have a more competent offense in 2025, but they could still use more weapons for their new quarterback to throw to. Recently, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox identified Las Vegas as one of the best fits for free agent wide receiver Elijah Moore.
Moore, 24, played collegiately at Ole Miss from 2018-20, earning First-team All-SEC and Consensus All-American honors in his final year with the Rebels.
The New York Jets selected Moore with the 34th overall pick in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft, giving him a starting job as a rookie. However, midway through his second season, Moore requested a trade due to a lack of involvement in the team’s offense.
In those two seasons, he played just 54.7% of the team’s offensive snaps and caught 80 passes for 984 yards and six touchdowns before being traded to the Cleveland Browns.
Over the last two seasons in Cleveland, Moore played 74.2% of the Browns’ offensive snaps and caught 120 passes for 1,178 yards and three scores from Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, P.J. Walker, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Jeff Driskel, Jameis Winston and Bailey Zappe.
Pro Football Focus gave Moore a 58.5 overall grade for his 2024 performance, ranking him 92nd among the 98 qualified NFL wide receivers last year. He also earned a 58.6 receiving grade (93rd).
At the moment, Las Vegas’ receiver room is looking pretty light with Jakobi Mayers, Tre Tucker and Alex Bachman currently leading the group. Moore may not be the best wideout on the market, but he could certainly be an improvement over some of the options Smith is set to throw to.
