PREMIER LEAGUE clubs have agreed to have two summer transfer windows this summer.

The first window will open on June 1 until June 10, before reopening on June 16.

The second window will then remain open as normal until September 1.

The earlier window will enable Chelsea and Manchester City to register new players in time for the Club World Cup.

The expanded tournament is set to get underway on June 14.

Both sides will finish their Premier League campaigns on May 25 – just 20 days before the Club World Cup’s opener.

And Chelsea could even be in the Europa Conference League final on May 28.

Several stars, including City duo Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri, and England captain Harry Kane, have criticised football congested calendar.

But participating clubs are being given huge financial incentives to take this summer’s tournament seriously.

The tournament has a total prize pot worth £775million – with the winners to pocket up to around £97m.

The revamped Club World Cup will feature 32 clubs, with City and Chelsea having both qualified as recent Champions League winners.

It is still unclear who the Blues will play in their tournament opener in Atlanta on June 16, after Mexican side Leon were booted out due to multi club ownership rules.

With Leon having appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Fifa remain reluctant to confirm a replacement.

Chelsea’s other group games will see them take on Brazilians Flamengo and Tunisian side Esperance.

City, meanwhile, will start against Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca in Philadelphia on June 18 before matches against Al Ain of Abu Dhabi and Juventus.
