SUNDERLAND will don a new badge this coming season as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.
The Black Cats are officially back in the top flight after an eight-year absence.
Regis Le Bris’ side won the Championship play-offs after finishing fourth in the second division to cap off an emotional comeback to the Prem.
And Sunderland are heading back in style with a new look as they unveiled their away kit.
The Premier League newcomers will be visiting their opponents in a blue jersey paying tribute to the club’s proud maritime identity.
And the collar will have”City by the Sea” stitched into the back of the neck, while the inside will feature a poetic nod to The Lake Poets.
But fans were particularly in awe of the new badge that is quite different to their original crest.
One supporter tweeted: “Take my money now.”
Another commented: “Beautiful.”
A third wrote: “I love it.”
This fan said: “What a top!”
And that one gushed: “Dear God!”
Sunderland have often made changes to the badge for their away kit throughout the years.
But this time they have modified the colours, which makes it stand out to past alterations.
Nevertheless, that will not be the club’s official crest for the season as the home jersey appears to have been leaked.
Based on photos that have surfaced across social media, Sunderland will continue playing with their original badge and signature red and white colours at the Stadium of Light.
