Patriots predicted to sign 2 free agents from Vikings, Bills worth million

The New England Patriots have spent big this offseason and may continue spending in the second wave of free agency. They could add another lineman as well as a pass catcher.

The team has spent big on defense. They added Morgan Moses to help protect Drake Maye, but more help should not be ruled out in free agency. They also failed to add an impact pass catcher. USA Today’s Cory Woodroof predicted the Patriots would sign Amari Cooper from the Buffalo Bills and Cam Robinson of the Minnesota Vikings.

“The Patriots need to get reliable receivers for quarterback Drake Maye, and Cooper still has gas left in the tank,” wrote Woodroof. “He’d be a good option for an offense trying to establish a new identity.”

“Speaking of the New England offense, the team needs a left tackle, and Robinson is the best one available,” wrote Woodroof. “He could slide right in and give the Patriots solid play to keep Maye upright.”

Spotrac projects Robinson to sign a three-year, $42 million deal this offseason. He was traded from the Jacksonville Jaguars to the Vikings last season and started 10 games in Minnesota. He has made 101 career starts.

Cooper is projected to earn a two-year, $37 million deal. He is a five-time Pro Bowler but failed to meet expectations with the Bills after they traded for him last season. In 2023 he had 1,250 yards on the Cleveland Browns, with inconsistent quarterback play. He is just one season removed from a Pro Bowl season and could help May grow into an elite quarterback.
